UNPLUG AND DISCOVER THE RETREAT

LIFE, HOW IT SHOULD BE LIVED

Experience a truly unique Irish farm retreat, sensitively designed with our guests’ comfort in mind, whilst not forgetting our roots.

Due for completion in summer 2025 but available to book now from January 2026 after an initial period of feedback, Skelligs Retreat offers space to do everything or do nothing. Explore 188 acres of ancient farmland, 1km of cliff face and thousands of years of history. All flanked by a 1,000 foot mountain, the wild Atlantic Ocean and more clean air than you could ever need.

We’re fusing reclaimed materials from the original buildings spanning back over 300 years with environmentally friendly methods of construction, to provide a place where time stands still.

Whether you want to switch off, get active, or experience the healing energy of this totally unique setting, our retreat provides the environment for you to reflect and rejuvenate.

THE OLD HOUSE

The heart of Skelligs Retreat is The Old House, a sensitive development that takes inspiration from the original farmhouse built in 1842, using many repurposed materials throughout the new building. The original building was built with rock cut from the land, using wreck pine for roof and floor beams, fished out of the Atlantic from ships caught up on the rocks below, and world-famous Valentia slate for the roof. Today, this space has been designed to offer choice and flexibility, with room to dine, entertain, get active or simply relax at the end of your day.

*Images show our vision for Skelligs Retreat, which is currently under construction.

The perfect communal space for outdoor entertainment, corporate training or even a wedding party. This large courtyard can be set out with benches, with food and drink provided either from the Old House kitchen or a choice of local, mobile catering companies.

This small, charismatic building is steeped in history and offers a unique stage for a band, your keynote speaker or simply as a backdrop to an outdoor movie night (subject to the famous Allagheemore weather conditions).

We’re restoring the farm’s old Cow Sheds as close as possible to their original construction. Once used as housing by our ancestors, one will include a fire and social seating space for enjoying immersive Irish traditions, another will house an honesty shop for gifts and Skelligs Retreat merchandise.

Connected to the Yard as a sheltered space in a truly historic setting, we’re also restoring the original Dosing Shed. This is another of the modest cow shed buildings made from cut stone, which date back to the early 1800s.

The farmhouse Shed building is used as a storage and facilities building for our working farm, which has been certified an Organic Farm by the Irish Organic Association.

Private and secluded from the main retreat, The Bungalow serves as a holiday home for our owner, used throughout the year without impacting on our guests’ experience. It can also be made available to increase accommodation numbers if required, on request and subject to availability.

OUR GUESTS HAVE ACCESS TO:

Hot Tubs
