It’s been a while since we’ve been able to share an update on our plans and progress for Skelligs
Retreat. Lots has been happening, including close collaboration with Fáilte Ireland and their
consultant partners to make sure our offer is aligned with the demands of the market, whilst also balancing local community and sustainability considerations.
We’re delighted to now be able to share the following updates:
- Skelligs Retreat is due to open in June 2025 – Ireland’s private sanctuary retreat, where you can unplug, reconnect and rejuvenate with tailored experiences, hand-picked wellbeing activities and your choice of authentic, cosy accommodation.
- Bookings are now open for 2025 and beyond. We’ve worked really hard behind the scenes on our brand (more about that later) and we’ve launched this new website, which gives more detail about the Retreat, the accommodation, the activities you can enjoy and how to book.
- Throughout 2025 and once the Retreat initially opens, we’ll be listening to feedback, allowing the Retreat to return back to nature from a construction site and refining our marketing activities to help make sure we’re launching a facility we can all be proud of.
Of course, none of this is possible without a lot of work between now and June 2025. There’s already lots going on at Ballinskelligs, just under 12 months before we’re due to open.
With a main contractor now appointed, we’ve completed all the infrastructure work, the road up to the Old House is in and we’ve undertaken some excavation works to level the site. Work is under way to increase the electrical supply to the Retreat too.
The original Old House has been carefully deconstructed and materials such as slate, stone and timber stored to be reused as the build progresses, in line with our sustainability ethos and circular economy principles.
Now, as we move forward with construction, the new foundations and slab are now in place, working to a programme set to finish in May 2025 ready for handover in time for opening.
It’s an exciting time and we’re looking forward to sharing more updates as the build progresses.
