We’re committed to doing things the right way. Whether that means reusing original materials in our sensitive rebuild of the farm buildings, or taking steps to support accessibility and equal opportunities. Skelligs Retreat is built on values of wellbeing, sustainability and community focus.

Among the steps we’re taking to reduce our impact are the installation of ground source heat pump technology and solar panels on site, a circular approach to construction materials, and minimal use of single-use plastics. We also benefit from an on-site water source, the Skelligs Spring. You can see more here.

Site Safety

The retreat is located on a coastal mountain, where some areas of the land is surrounded by exposed cliff edges and ditches. With this and the overall rocky and boggy terrain, guests should always be mindful of their safety when roaming outside of the retreat onto the farm land.

As the location experiences the raw ocean weather, mountain climbing and other outdoor activities should always be dependent on the weather conditions and if it is safe to do so. This is due to the fact that the high altitude attracts high levels of fog during the colder months which is driven by the ocean mist. To ensure guest safety on the retreat, we ask guests to remain sensible and if unsure to always feel free to contact our team for advice.
